Rango Leadership Fund
The Rango Leadership Fund was developed to further the vision of Dr. Nicholas
A. Rango, a pioneer in the fight against AIDS and director of New York State
AIDS Institute from 1988 until his death in 1993. Nick Rango was a dedicated,
driven and accomplished leader who continued to be at the forefront of
addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic until the very end of his life. Learn more
about
Nick Rango
The Rango Leadership Fund supports efforts to increase the management and
leadership skills of state health department employees who are responsible for
administering their state's HIV/AIDS programs and ensuring the health of all
citizens. Funds may also be used to support the leadership development of
NASTAD staff. The fund's goal is to support training, mentoring, skill
development and knowledge building opportunities for employees working at
various levels in their state's HIV/AIDS and hepatitis programs so that they
can become even more effective in administering these challenging programs.
As early as 1987, Dr. Rango championed increased attention to minority
populations hit hardest by the HIV/AID epidemic. Consistent with his
philosophy, the leadership skill development of minority employees is given
special emphasis in order to build additional leadership capacity within the
minority populations that are most affected by this disease.
HIV/AIDS continues to be a devastating disease, with over one million Americans
living with HIV/AIDS, and impacting approximately 40 million people worldwide.
It is a serious threat to the health and welfare of our citizens and people
from all over the globe.
Your donation will help develop the skills and abilities of dedicated public
health professionals who work daily to combat this devastating disease. The
Rango Leadership Fund uses 100% of your contribution in support of leadership
development projects and programs. None of your donation will be used to
conduct additional fundraising.
